Lakes and their characteristics
Since my work focuses on water, I always want to inspire others to do the same. By the end of this post, you'll feel more confident and informed about lakes and their characteristics.
Lakes are land-based water bodies, larger and deeper than ponds, though no strict scientific definitions separate them. They may connect to oceans and rivers, covering less than 2% of Earth's surface. The study of lakes is called Limnology (https://lnkd.in/gBwBuM4q).
Most lakes are fed by springs and connected to creeks and rivers, but some are endorheic, with no outflow, while volcanic lakes are filled by precipitation runoff. Artificial lakes also exist, and there are a total of 11 major lake types with 76 subtypes.
So what was your favorite lake?
Mine was Crystal Lake, where I grew up. I hope you have a oar-fully good time reading this post and are inspired with a new appreciation for lakes.
